The Power of Rest: How Sabbath Rhythms Strengthen Your Kingdom Impact

God didn’t create the Sabbath to burden us. He made it for our good. Sabbath rest is a gift, not a rule to follow. It’s an invitation to step away from demands, pause, and find refreshment in Him. God Himself rested on the seventh day, declaring it good. If God, the Creator of all, valued rest, how much more do we need it?

Many of us carry a heavy load. Work, family, church, and daily responsibilities pile up. We feel pressure to keep going, as if resting is laziness. Yet the truth is the opposite. Stepping into Sabbath restores your body, mind, and spirit. It helps you hear God’s voice more clearly. It strengthens your ability to live intentionally for Him. When we embrace this gift, we are better equipped to impact our families, communities, and the world for the Kingdom.

Why Sabbath Rest Matters

The Bible shows us God modeling rest from creation. After six days of creating the world, He paused and enjoyed what He had made. His rest wasn’t a stop in productivity—it was a moment of joy, reflection, and renewal. Likewise, Sabbath rest isn’t a pause from significance; it’s preparation for purpose.

Practicing rest counters the constant “go, go, go” culture. It helps us resist the lie that our worth comes from busyness. When we pause intentionally, we create space for God to restore us. We begin to notice His presence in everyday life. We gain clarity for decisions, strength for challenges, and peace in the midst of chaos.

Even small steps matter. You don’t need a full day to experience Sabbath rest. Try one or two practical ways this week:

  1. Set aside a specific hour for quiet reflection, prayer, or reading Scripture. Treat it as sacred time with God.

  2. Step away from screens and distractions for a few hours. Focus on listening to Him instead of responding to the world.

Then, on Monday, June 15, we will practice Sabbath together during the Come to Me: A 7-Day Invitation to Sabbath Rest podcast series. This challenge will guide you to embrace Sabbath rhythms in a deeper, more intentional way. Be sure you are subscribed to The Wake Up My Daughters Podcast and join us on June 15.
