4 Ways to Truly Savor Christmas This Year

This Christmas, it’s easy to get caught up in the busyness and miss the heart of the season. If you want to savor Christmas fully—finding joy, peace, and meaning amidst the celebrations—these four simple steps will help you focus on what truly matters.

1. Pause and Reflect on Christ’s Gift

Before the wrapping paper and feasts take over, take a quiet moment to remember why we celebrate. Reflect on Luke 2:10–11: “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.” Let His presence fill your heart before the day begins.

2. Make Space for Meaningful Moments

Turn off the noise—social media, endless errands, and screens—and create intentional moments with family or friends. Whether it’s reading a Christmas story together, singing carols, or sharing what God has done this year, these small acts become treasured memories.

3. Give the Gift of Presence

Sometimes the best gift isn’t something wrapped—it’s giving your full attention to those around you. Be fully present in conversations, meals, and gatherings. Romans 12:10 reminds us to “Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.” Let love and presence shape your holiday interactions.

4. Start the Year Rooted in God’s Word

As the season winds down, consider carrying the focus of Christ into the new year. I’m inviting you to join a simple Bible reading challenge on the Wake Up My Daughters podcast from December 29 through January 13. It’s a gentle way to keep Christ at the center and start 2026 with His Word in your heart.
