Woman’s hand resting on an open Bible surrounded by spring flowers, symbolizing renewal and fresh beginnings in quiet time with GodSpring is a season of renewal, growth, and fresh beginnings—a perfect time to refresh your quiet time this spring. If your Bible study and prayer routine has started to feel dry or distracted, these three simple steps can help you reconnect with God, stay spiritually nourished, and bring new life to your time with Him.

1. Surrender First—Then Study

Before opening your Bible, pause and invite God into your heart. A cluttered mind can make quiet time feel like just another task. Take a moment to pray, surrender your distractions, and ask Him to quiet your heart. Just like planting seeds in spring, your time with God begins with an open and ready spirit.

“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10

2. Shift from Asking to Awe

Too often, we approach God only with requests. This season, try coming with a heart of worship and gratitude. Reflect on His goodness, His faithfulness, and His love. You might:

 • Start your quiet time with a worship song

 • Journal about God’s character

 • Read a psalm of praise

“Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.” — Psalm 100:4

3. Start Small & Let It Grow

If consistency has been a struggle, don’t pressure yourself to study for an hour. Begin with just 5–10 minutes a day. Even small steps build momentum, and God will grow your faith as you commit to returning to Him regularly.

“He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion.” — Philippians 1:6

Christian woman walking, reflecting and embracing peace, symbolizing walking in freedom from lies that steal her joyHave you ever felt behind in your spiritual life? You know God is calling you, but life’s distractions scream louder. The lie whispers, “You don’t have time. You’re not doing it right.” These thoughts steal your joy before your day even begins. This May, as the season changes, it’s the perfect time to start walking in freedom from lies.

Freedom begins in the heart and mind. It doesn’t come from doing more, being perfect, or trying harder. It comes from learning to abide in Christ, giving your thoughts to Him, and letting His truth replace the lies. Even if quiet time has felt impossible, small intentional steps can restore peace and contentment. Today, you can begin to let go, surrender your performance-driven habits, and embrace the joy God intends.

Identify the Lies

The first step is noticing the lies that trap you. Many women feel they’re behind spiritually. Some believe they must perform perfectly in devotionals. Others feel so busy that even a few minutes with God seem impossible.

These lies are both spiritual and practical. Spiritually, you might feel guilty for inconsistency. Practically, your calendar, chores, and responsibilities scream for attention. They tell you, “You’re too late. You’re too busy. You’re failing.”

Recognizing these lies is freedom’s first step. When you name them, you can stop believing them. Awareness creates space for God’s truth.

Replace Lies with Truth

Walking in freedom from lies doesn’t mean ignoring life’s demands. It means actively replacing lies with truth. Jesus calls us to abide (John 15). Abiding is living in His presence and relying on Him, not our performance.

Start by giving your thoughts to God. When lies of inadequacy arise, counter them with Scripture. Remind yourself: peace comes when I trust Him. Joy returns when I stop striving.

Focus on small, consistent steps. Even five minutes of intentional quiet time strengthens your mind and spirit. Let go of perfection. Stop comparing your devotionals to anyone else. Freedom is found in surrender, not in more effort.

Practical Steps to Begin

 1. Start small. Pick one truth-filled verse to memorize this week.

 2. Schedule micro-moments. Even ten quiet minutes counts.

 3. Replace distractions. Turn off notifications during devotional time.

 4. Journal thoughts. Write down lies and counter with God’s promises.

 5. Pray intentionally. Ask God to renew your mind and guard your joy.

As you apply these steps, you’ll notice freedom in heart, mind, and spirit. Summer transitions and busyness won’t control your peace. You’ll walk in freedom from lies that steal your joy, feeling more content and connected to God than before.

Moving Forward

Take one small step today. Identify a lie that has been stealing your joy and write it down. Then, replace it with a truth from God’s Word. Let Him renew your mind and fill your heart with peace.

If you want more guidance on walking in freedom and building consistent time with God, join our Renewing Our Minds Bible study inside our Watered By the Word community. It ‘s absolutely FREE..

garden gate, reflecting on faith and spiritual renewalA Fresh Start in Your Walk With God

Spring is the perfect time for a spring refresh for your faith. The season invites new life. Flowers bloom, trees grow, and the earth seems to breathe again. Spiritually, God calls us to the same renewal.

I’ve been thinking about my daily walk with Him. Some habits need to go. Old routines that felt good once may now clutter my spiritual life. Just like clearing a messy room, letting go of these habits gives God space to work.

Every day is an invitation from Jesus to return to Him. To sit at His feet, to listen and to grow. Renewal isn’t about perfection. It’s about small, intentional steps that open our hearts to God.

Imagine preparing a garden bed for spring. You pull weeds, turn soil, and plant seeds. The process takes effort, but the harvest is worth it. Spiritually, we clear the clutter in our hearts. We remove old thought patterns and habits. Then, God can plant seeds of joy, peace, and wisdom.

A fresh start doesn’t happen automatically. It requires attention, time, and prayer. But when we allow God to lead, He brings new growth. One small step each day—spending time in scripture, praying, or simply listening—invites His renewal.

Renew Your Mind Through Scripture

Romans 12:2 tells us to “renew our minds.” This is the heart of a spring refresh for your faith. Renewal begins inside, in our thoughts, attitudes, and perspective.

Daily life can feel busy and heavy. Old habits or distractions weigh us down. We might think, “I’ll start again tomorrow.” But Jesus calls us today. Each morning is a chance to return to Him. Each evening a moment to reflect.

Think about spring cleaning your house. Dust hides in corners and clutter fills spaces. When you tidy and clean, light enters. Spiritually, renewal works the same way. We sweep away the mental and emotional debris. We let God illuminate our hearts.

Consider the garden again. Seeds need sunlight, water, and care. In our faith, these seeds are scripture, prayer, and worship. When nurtured, they grow strong. Over time, our hearts bloom with God’s presence.

A spring refresh for your faith isn’t just seasonal. It’s a lifestyle. It’s noticing God in small moments. Taking time to rest at His feet. Choosing His Word over worry. This intentional renewal brings joy that lasts.

Reflection Question

Which habits, thoughts, or routines in your daily walk with God could you “clear out” to make space for His new life this spring?

It’s so easy to get excited and engaged for Easter. We spend weeks preparing, focusing our hearts, planning celebrations—only to feel deflated once it’s over. Many of us even experience post-holiday blues. But it doesn’t have to be that way. The joy of Easter isn’t meant to last for just one Sunday. As believers, we’re called to live with resurrection joy every single day. Here are 3 simple ways to keep the joy of Easter alive year-round:

1. Remember the New Life You Have

Christ’s sacrifice brings us new life, and Easter calls us to reflect on this life-changing truth. Don’t let it slip away with the seasonal decorations. Daily remind yourself that you’ve been redeemed, restored, and raised with Christ. True Easter joy starts when you remember what He has done.

2. Spend Intentional Time in God’s Word

It’s not about a perfect routine—it’s about showing up. Open your Bible with expectation, knowing that God wants to meet with you. Let His Word be your daily resurrection reminder.

3. Choose Worship Over Weariness

Choose worship—especially through music—instead of letting exhaustion pull you away from Jesus. Worship shifts our focus from ourselves to the Savior, and it renews our joy. Scripture songs, hymns, and praise can keep your heart tender and aligned with the truth of Easter.

The Christian life isn’t about reaching perfection—it’s about making a daily choice to surrender and walk with Jesus. The joy of Easter is not just a moment. It’s a mindset. And it’s yours to carry all year long.

Many women long to walk with Jesus daily, yet find themselves stuck in spiritual autopilot. You know God’s Word. You can quote verses. You believe the truth in your heart. But life moves fast. Stress and responsibilities take over. Before long, you’re reacting instead of walking intentionally, and the peace and purpose you long for feel just out of reach.

From Autopilot to Intentional Companionship

The Awakened Walk: guiding Christian women to walk with Jesus daily, live intentionally in His Word, and grow in faith.I realized this painfully while caring for my father as he neared eternity. I loved God, I knew His truth, but I wasn’t living fully awake to Him. The Awakened Walk is the shift from spiritual autopilot to intentional companionship with Jesus. It’s inviting Him into the ordinary rhythms of your day, turning knowledge into action, and belief into movement.

When truth begins shaping your walk, something changes:

 • Not perfection — direction.

 • Pausing before reacting because God’s Word guides your choices.

 • Choosing peace in the midst of stress.

 • Aligning your priorities with what truly matters.

 • Experiencing quiet steadiness and deeper purpose even in ordinary moments.

A Simple Practice to Awaken Your Walk

Awakening doesn’t require striving harder. Often, it starts with one simple question:

“What truth am I walking in right now?”

Asking this throughout your day gently redirects your attention to Jesus, transforms knowledge into awareness, and helps you live out truth in real time.

If your heart senses a nudge to live beyond spiritual autopilot, you are not alone. Let’s wake up and walk it out together.

If you’re ready to cultivate daily awareness of God, grow deeper in His Word, and walk with greater purpose and peace, I invite you to join me inside Watered By the Word — a community created to help women awaken, be formed by truth, and faithfully walk with Jesus daily.

How Living Out the Knowledge of God Transforms Your MindWhy Knowledge Alone Isn’t Enough

It’s possible to spend years in Scripture and still face an uncomfortable truth — living out the knowledge of God is more than knowing facts. I can recognize who He is, affirm His Word, and understand His character. Yet in daily life, my thoughts often drift toward worry, fear, or self-reliance.

Complacency can look harmless. It’s quiet familiarity with Scripture without active obedience. I might attend church, read devotionals, or even memorize verses. But if my mind doesn’t align with His truth, transformation stalls.

Knowledge alone doesn’t change habits, priorities, or responses. Transformation begins when God’s truth takes root in the heart and mind. It requires intentional engagement, not passive agreement.

Anchoring Your Life in God’s Character

God’s character offers both challenge and rest. He is holy, set apart, calling us to reverence and obedience. God is love, faithful and unchanging, reminding us that worth is found in Him, not performance.

He is our Good Shepherd, guiding each step. When we resist His voice, we miss His wisdom and provision. He is truth, cutting through cultural lies and distorted thinking. He is strength, sustaining us when we are weary or tempted to rely on ourselves. And He is the Prince of Peace, offering calm and assurance in a chaotic world.

Knowing these attributes is not enough. They must reshape our thoughts and decisions. When I meditate on His holiness, I examine my priorities. When I embrace His peace, I interrupt fear with Scripture. When I lean on His strength, I no longer carry burdens alone.

Each attribute is an anchor for daily living. Reflection, prayer, and intentional focus on God’s character align our minds with His reality.

Moving from Familiarity to Transformation

Transformation is a journey. It doesn’t happen by accident or mere exposure to Scripture. It grows through deliberate practice: reading, memorizing, meditating, and applying truth to thought patterns and daily actions.

The podcast series Rooted in Who God Is and the Renewing Our Minds study provide tools for this journey. Each episode and study module explores one of God’s key attributes — holy, love, Good Shepherd, truth, strength, and Prince of Peace — helping us move beyond information toward lived experience.

When we engage intentionally, truth moves from the page to our minds, hearts, and lives. We start thinking differently, responding differently, and making choices that reflect who God is.

If you’re ready to stop drifting and allow knowledge to transform your life, I invite you to join us inside Watered By the Word. Together, we will root our minds in Scripture, anchor our hearts in God’s character, and live out the truth we already know.

Reflection Questions

 • Where have I allowed familiarity with truth to replace active transformation?

 • Which aspect of God’s character do I most struggle to live from right now?

 • What thought patterns need realignment with His Word this week?

 • What intentional step can I take today to renew my mind?

In the rush of daily life, it’s easy to get caught up in our worries, to-do lists, and distractions. But when we pause to focus on who God truly is, our perspective shifts, and our hearts find peace. As I explore these truths in my Rooted in Who God Is podcast season, I’m reminded that knowing God’s character deeply transforms how we live. Here are five Scriptures to help you focus on God’s nature and draw closer to Him.

1. God is Holy

“Exalt the Lord our God; worship at his footstool! Holy is he!” – Psalm 99:5 (ESV)
God’s holiness reminds us that He is completely pure, righteous, and set apart from sin. Focusing on His holiness calls us to awe, reverence, and a life aligned with His truth.

2. God is Loving

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” – Lamentations 3:22–23 (ESV)
God’s love is unwavering and faithful. When we meditate on His love, we are reminded that we are deeply cherished, and His promises are always true, even when our circumstances feel uncertain.

3. God is the Good Shepherd

“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.” – John 10:11 (ESV)
God’s care is personal and tender. Like a shepherd who knows each sheep by name, He guides, protects, and provides for us daily. Trusting Him allows us to follow without fear.

4. God is Truth

“Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.” – John 17:17 (ESV)
God is the standard of all truth. In a world of confusion and shifting opinions, His Word and character are unchanging. Meditating on this truth strengthens our faith and anchors our hearts.

5. God is Protector

“The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge.” – Psalm 18:2 (ESV)
God shields us from danger and provides safety in life’s storms. Focusing on Him as our protector reminds us that no circumstance can overpower His power or care.

6. God is the Prince of Peace

“He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul.” – Psalm 23:2–3 (ESV)
God brings calm to our hearts and restores our souls. Meditating on Him as our Prince of Peace helps us experience His quieting presence in the chaos of life.

Take a moment this week to meditate on one of these truths. Let your heart dwell on God’s holiness, love, care, faithfulness, and peace.

How Living Out the Knowledge of God Transforms Your Mind

Renewing my mind sounds simple. In reality, it often feels like a challenge.
Especially on days when mental fatigue sets in early.

As women, we process countless thoughts each day. Decisions. Responsibilities. Information coming at us nonstop. By the time I pause to think about renewing my mind, I already feel tired. The idea can feel like one more spiritual task I don’t have the energy to do well.

Yet Scripture is clear. If I want to grow, I must renew my mind by knowing who God is. Not occasionally. Not theoretically. Daily.

When God Slips to the Background

Most days, the problem isn’t intentional neglect. It’s distraction.

I can move through an entire day without really thinking about God at all. Life demands my attention, and I rely on myself to get things done. I plan. I’m pushing. I manage. What I forget is that I was never meant to live this way.

God has given me His Holy Spirit. Not to add pressure, but to provide power.
Jesus promised that the Spirit would help, remind, and strengthen us (John 14:26). When I depend on myself, the burden grows heavier. When I depend on Him, the weight begins to lift.

Renewing the mind isn’t about effort. It’s about alignment.

God Showed Me What I Wasn’t Paying Attention To

I didn’t set out to examine my thoughts about God. Honestly, I wasn’t capturing them at all.

But the Lord began drawing my attention to what I believed about Him in everyday moments. Not in church. Not during study time. But in stress. In waiting. In weariness.

That’s when I realized how much my thinking needed renewal.

What I believe about God shapes how I live. If my thoughts drift unchecked, spiritual drift follows. Renewing my mind means intentionally returning to truth. Again and again.

Six Truths That Re-Anchor My Mind

God keeps bringing me back to who He is. These truths realign my thinking and steady my heart.

He is Holy.
God is set apart and unchanging. His holiness lifts my eyes beyond my circumstances.

He is Loving.
His love is personal and steadfast. It does not waver with my performance.

He is My Good Shepherd.
He leads, provides, and stays near. I am not navigating life alone.

He is Truth.
In a noisy world, God’s Word anchors my mind and exposes lies.

He is My Protector.
God sees the battle. He guards and covers His people.

He is My Prince of Peace.
Peace is not something I create. It flows from trusting Him.

As I renew my mind by knowing who God is, my reactions change. My endurance grows. My faith deepens.

Why This Changes Everything

Renewing the mind is essential for spiritual maturity. Without it, growth stalls. Faith weakens. Witness loses clarity.

When my mind is rooted in truth, hope rises. Hardship becomes easier to endure. My responses shift—I respond instead of react. Slowly, I become more like Christ.

This matters because the world is watching. A grounded faith speaks loudly. A distracted one does not.

The Urgency of Now

All we truly have is now.

We are not promised tomorrow. The people in our lives may not have unlimited time to hear the truth of the Gospel. That reality matters.

Who needs to hear about Jesus before it is too late?
What kind of legacy do I want to leave?

This is why I choose to renew my mind by knowing who God is. Not later. Not when life slows down. Now.

You Don’t Have to Walk Alone

We were never meant to do this alone.

There are sisters in Christ who want to walk this journey together. Women who desire truth, maturity, and faithfulness. That’s why Watered By the Word exists.

It’s free. It offers support, Scripture-based tools, and encouragement to help you stay rooted in truth.

The time is now.
Let’s walk this road together.

The post 3 Quick Ways to Stay Consistent in Bible Study appeared first on Watered By the Word.

]]>
Staying consistent in Bible study can feel impossible when life is busy, and your to-do list never seems to end. But building a daily habit is doable with small, intentional steps. Here are three ways to stay on track:

1. Make a Commitment and Calendar It
Consistency starts with a decision. Choose a time each day—even if it’s just 10–15 minutes—and put it on your calendar like any other appointment. Treat it as non-negotiable. Even small, regular time in God’s Word compounds into deep spiritual growth.

2. Follow a Reading Plan
A reading plan gives structure and direction. Instead of staring at your Bible wondering where to start, a plan guides you step by step. Whether it’s a topical plan, a book of the Bible, or a devotional, having a plan makes daily study feel manageable and purposeful.

3. Use Music to Hide Scripture in Your Heart
Memorizing scripture doesn’t have to feel like a chore. Singing God’s Word can make it stick in your heart and mind. Turn verses into songs or listen to scripture set to music. This not only helps you remember God’s truth but makes your daily study enjoyable.

Consistency in Bible study is about small, intentional steps that fit into your life. If you want a practical way to start memorizing scripture using music, check out my 5-Day “Verse by Verse”: A Simple 5-day plan to memorize scripture with music. It’s designed to help you hide God’s Word in your heart quickly and joyfully.

Grab your plan HERE

Reflection Questions:

 1. What is one small step you can take this week to make Bible study a consistent part of your day?

 2. Which reading plan or approach would help you stay on track without feeling overwhelmed?

 3. How could incorporating music into your study help you memorize and meditate on scripture more effectively?

Building a Daily Habit That Draws You Closer to Him

Open Bible in soft morning light representing building a daily Bible reading habit and consistent time in God’s Word. The start of a new year feels like a gift to me.

Not a demand to fix myself.
Not pressure to perform better spiritually.
But an invitation to begin again.

A deep longing stirs in my spirit.
This year, I want to be watered by the Word.
Letting Scripture shape my heart is my desire.
To steady me.
To transform me.

What I want most is not intensity.
I want consistency.
I want a daily Bible reading habit that draws me closer to God.

Yet I know what has stopped me before.

When Feelings Decide for Us

Most days, the battle isn’t belief.
It’s emotion.

“I don’t feel like it today.”
“I’ll do it later.”
“I’m too tired to focus.”

And slowly, drifting begins.

Then the inner voice shows up.

“I should be further along.”
“I need to do better.”
“Why can’t I stay consistent?”
“Maybe I’m just lazy.”

That lie is heavy.
But it is still a lie.

God is not asking for perfection.
He is inviting us into faithfulness.

Consistency Over Perfection

Here is the loving wake-up call I need every year.

Consistency matters more than length.
Faithfulness matters more than feelings.
Relationship matters more than discipline.

Time in Scripture was never meant to be punishment.
It is an invitation to abide.

Scripture says,

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly.”
Colossians 3:16

Not skim.
Not rush.
Dwell.

A daily Bible reading habit allows God’s Word to live with us.
To settle into our thinking.
To shape our responses.

And God’s Word is not passive.

“For the word of God is living and active.”
— Hebrews 4:12

Living things grow when they are watered regularly.

Why Drifting Happens So Easily

Drifting rarely starts with rebellion.
It starts with neglect.

Busy schedules.
Mental fatigue.
Too many voices competing for attention.

Before we realize it, our daily time in God’s Word becomes optional.

But abiding requires intention.

Jesus never asked us to visit Him occasionally.
He asked us to remain.

That is why building a rhythm matters.

Not someday.
Now.

A Simple Way to Begin Again

This year does not need a complicated plan.

It needs a faithful beginning.

That is why I created the Let Scripture Come Alive 21-Day Challenge. This challenge is Simple. Gentle. Doable.

The goal is not mastery.
The goal is presence.

This challenge helps you build a daily Bible habit without overwhelm.
It brings Scripture back into daily life.
Not as pressure.
But as nourishment.

A daily Bible reading habit changes us quietly.
But deeply.

You Were Never Meant to Do This Alone

One truth I am holding tightly this year is this:

We were not created to grow alone.

Community is not extra.
It is essential.

Sometimes the missing piece is not effort.
It is connection.

There is a community ready to walk with you.
To encourage you.
To remind you when motivation fades.

Taking the Shepherd’s hand requires humility.
But it leads to growth.

A Clear Invitation

This is your year to stop drifting.
And start abiding in Christ daily.

You can keep waiting for motivation.
Or you can choose faithfulness today.

Here is your invitation:

You do not have to figure out how to read the Bible consistently on your own.

The Word is living.
The invitation is open.
And the Shepherd is calling.
